Ice Fishing, Fun But Take Caution

fishing trough the iceIce fishing is a great time to be had for many, and can be a lot of fun. I go ice fishing, I love it, and it is just another reason why I enjoy the great outdoors.. BUT, the way our weather pattern can go, Ice fishing can be dangerous. So caution is always the most important way to have this fun. Many mishaps and tragedies have happened on the ice. Shanties, trucks, cars, snowmobiles, ATV’s, and of course humans have all fallen through the ice .


For your safety, here are some important guidelines to keep in mind: Keep an eye on the weather for days before venturing out on the ice. Make sure there has been a long period of freezing to make sure you know that the ice is good and frozen. There are many predictions as to how thick the ice should be before going out to ice-fish. However, sometimes, even with thick ice, accidents have occurred, because the water does not always freeze as solid as other areas on the lake..

Largemouth Bass Facts

Largemouth bass are  sought after by anglers and are noted for the excitement of their fight. The fish  often become airborne in their effort to throw the hook, but many say that their cousin  the smallmouth bass can beat them pound for pound. Anglers  often fish for largemouth  with lures  plastic worms (and other plastic baits) jigs crankbaits and spinnerbaits  Live bait such as nightcrawlers minnows  frogs, orcrawfish can also be productive. In fact, large golden shiners are a popular live bait used to catch trophy bass, especially when they are sluggish in the heat of summer or in the cold of winter. Frogs may not be legal everywhere. One may have to read the regulations in their own state.
