Experts claim that Cold Snap doesn't disprove global warming
Beijing had its coldest morning in almost 40 years along with its biggest snowfall since 1951. Also Britain had faced its longest cold snap since 1981. Freezing weather was gripping the south. So what ever happened to global warming? Such weather doesn't seem to fit with the warning of scientist about global warming. "NOT TRUE" The earth is warming because of greenhouse gases. The weather is a blip of long term in a long term heating trend. It's part of natural variability according to Gerald Meehl, a senior scientist for atmospheres research in Bolder,Colo. With global warming we still have cold temperatures. We just have fewer of them. Deke Arndt of the National Climate Data Center in Asheville, N.C., noted that the Earth had rank had it's 10th warmest years in 2009 since 1880. Scientists say that man - made climate change does have the potential to cause more frequent and more severe weather extremes, such as heat waves, storms, floods, droughts and even cold spells. alt
