The wild turkey is truly one of Wisconsin’s wildlife management success stories. A key role in the success of the wild turkey management program can be attributed to hunters through their purchase of the Wild Turkey Stamp which provides vital financial support in providing for future opportunities for turkey management and hunting in Wisconsin. Since wild turkeys were first successfully reintroduced into Wisconsin in 1976, population levels continue to increase and expand statewide. Successful restoration of the wild turkey resulted from tremendous hunter and landowner support, good survival, and high quality habitat. Turkey stamp funds have been providing opportunities for turkey management in Wisconsin since 1995. Sale of the turkey stamp currently brings in over $750,000 annually for developing, managing, conserving, restoring, and maintaining the wild turkey population within the state.

Wisconsin and several other Great Lakes states are pursuing legal action and other avenues to force action to keep Asian carp out of the Great Lakes. These invasive fish are a grave concern because they can aggressively compete with native commercial and sport fish for food and can potentially disrupt entire ecosystems. Also, silver carp can injure boaters when the fish leap out of the water.

Feral Pig Hunting Information
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has adopted the position that feral pigs are exotic, non-native wild animals that pose significant threats to both the environment and to agricultural operations. The Department promotes aggressive removal anywhere feral pigs are reported. Feral pigs are considered unprotected wild animals with no closed season or harvest limit. Feral pigs may be removed any time throughout the year as long as those choosing to pursue them possess a valid small game license

| If you like the great outdoors and truly respect our heritage. (The earth.) The land itself. If you know how conservation truly works. Then you would understand that we must have hunting and fishing to make it work. I realize in this day and age that protecting our planet and certain species is critical. However so is the sporting part of it. If we were not to hunt and fish then the balance of the eco system still becomes unbalanced.

Kids Just Want to Shoot
Taking kids hunting can be one of the best ways there is to enjoy time in the field. You know they just love to tag along with you each and every time out. They want to be there with you but they want to shoot too. I have often wondered if sitting in a blind or tree stand for hours seeing sometimes nothing, is fun for them. I love hunting and yet, I can find myself getting bored when there is nothing to do but sit.
